PFAS-FREE WORKWEAR AT TRANEMO
Sustainable development involves tackling sustainability from several different perspectives. Our focus remains on developing high-quality, long-lasting workwear, primarily manufactured in Europe. However, we also need to consider the environmental and climate impact at every stage of the product life cycle.
In 2021, we introduced our first Flame Retardant range, Cantex WS, sewn in a fabric with a PFAS-free finish, developed through extensive research and testing in partnership with one of our primary European fabric suppliers. This was the beginning of our journey to phase out PFAS in all our fabrics where it is not essential, reaffirming our commitment to minimizing pollution and promoting sustainable workwear.
We are aware that transitioning to a PFAS-free stock, is not something that can be accomplished overnight; it will take years to complete. But we can now proudly state that:
THE TERA TX FABRIC IS NOW PRODUCED 100% PFAS-FREE
As Tera TX is our most popular and extensive range of Flame Retardant workwear this marks a significant milestone in our No-to-PFAS journey. The majority of our workwear range is now produced using either fabrics that are originally PFAS free or fabrics treated with a PFAS-free impregnation.
PFAS-free on Tranemo website
To highlight our progress in phasing out PFAS from our assortment, we have chosen to mark and tag products on our website as follows.
No to PFAS
All products that are currently produced with PFAS-free fabrics are tagged with the keyword and “No to PFAS” logo. These tags mean that we have either taken out PFAS from the fabric impregnation or that the product is originally PFAS-free. Examples of originally PFAS-free products is knitwear and underwear. By also tagging garments as PFAS-free, we make it possible for our customers to filter our PFAS-free products, for easy access.
Running replacement to a PFAS-free stock
The transition to a completely PFAS-free stock will take years to accomplish and the stock change will be a running replacement at Tranemo. This means that products produced with new PFAS-free fabrics, will only be delivered when old products in stock are sold out.
To high-light a product where we recently removed PFAS from the fabric, and where the product is produced with a PFAS-free finish, the following information text is added to the product text.
¹This garment is produced with new PFAS-free fabrics. For a period, we will have a mixed stock and the transition to PFAS-free will be a running replacement.
